Carstens series base marks
Mode Chic

Ceramics with the Mode Chic label are very rare. It is known with two types of base marks.

ATELIER
1962 - ca.1977
The series ATELIER was used a long period from 1962 and probably until the company ceased 1977. Since it was used a long period there are many different base marks. The earliest base mark that was used for the ATELIER series was probably the letter "C.". Unmarked bases and bases with debossed and handwrited form and size number were also used. The 3rd generation of the twin house mark was also used. The last base mark was the CARSTENS ATELIER base mark that was probably used from the mid 70s until the company ceased 1977.

EUROPA
1967 - early 70s
The earliest EUROPA series forms, used the base mark "E.". These pieces can be found with the "world map" label. Ceramics with the "world map" label with the 3rd gen. of the twin house base mark can also be found. It is not known if these pieces also belong to the EUROPA series. The label "EUROPA" is only known with the 3rd gen. of the twin house base mark.

The Manilla series was designed by Heinz Siery ca.1967. It was in production until at least 1968. The series had not an own label.

The last Carstens series was the TÖPFEREI series. Unmarked bases are common with this series. The 4th generation of the "twin house" mark also comes with the CARSTENS TÖPFEREI base mark.
